Educational History: B.F.A. in Art Education with a M.N. teaching license in Visual Arts K-12. I also went back to school to attend Hamline University and received an additional teaching license in Elementary Education K-6. I have taught Art in various capacities with children ages birth-18 years old. I have also taught fifth grade Literacy, and Social Studies for both 5th and 6th grade.

Why I chose to work at Aspen: In learning about Aspen, I noticed that the school valued students' intellectual, creative and social needs. This very much aligned with my pedagogy in that I feel we should view each child not only as an individual, but one that is much more than just their academic self. I feel proud to be a part of a staff that recognizes we are helping shape each student into a well-rounded person.

Hobbies/Interests: In the art world, my favorite mediums have most recently been painting, embroidery, drawing and printmaking. I also enjoy reading, seeing live music, exploring the outdoors and spending time with my fur balls at home.

Favorite author/historical figure: Lately, I've been enjoying Oscar Wilde. I may not agree with him on everything, but it has been wonderful reading through the lens in which he viewed the world. Historical Figure(s)-Hard to pick one. Malala Yousafzai and Desmond Tutu-anyone who fights for female education and human rights is a winner in my book.

Personal motto/inspirational quote: "I raise up my voice not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back." Malala Yousafzai
