Hire Year: 2018

About Me: My name is Susan Hoseth Forsans. Students call me Ms. Forsans. I am thrilled to join Aspen Academy this year as the Middle School Special Education Teacher. I work together with my students, their families, the Aspen Middle School team, and service providers to maximize the learning potential of each of my students by tailoring learning to their needs.

Educational History: My background includes earning a BA in German Literature from Stanford University, study abroad at the Free University of Berlin, and an MA in Publishing Studies from New York University. Before coming to Aspen, I worked for several educational institutions as an education assistant serving students from birth to age 21 under the guidance of licensed staff. Once I spent some time supporting students in classrooms, I realized I wanted my own classroom, so I did my teacher training at University of St. Thomas. Upon receiving my license in June of 2015 to teach individualized instruction focusing on students with Autism Spectrum Disorders from birth to age 21, I managed a K-2 classroom at Lyndale Community School with Minneapolis Public Schools for two years, a classroom for students in grades 6-8 at Northdale Middle School with Anoka Hennepin Schools for one year, and taught ELA and math at Brooklyn Center's High School and Alternative Learning Center for several months.
