Welcome to Music!
Hello Aspen students and families!
I am Mr. Gross. This is my thirteenth year teaching in the field. I have spent time teaching in the St. Paul area as well as my hometown of Worthington, MN. I completed my undergraduate work in music education at South Dakota State University. I am also in the final stages of attaining a master of music education degree from the University of St. Thomas. I hold additional certifications in the Kodaly concept and Orff-Schulwerk Pedagogy. I am excited to focus my time and expertise on kindergarten through fifth grade this year.
I believe that music provides students with the tools necessary to live a fuller life. Performing, studying, and analyzing music allows for students to develop a life-long love and appreciation for all types of music. The music program educates students to be musically literate by reading, writing, and creating. Our approach promotes the development of each students’ innate musicality, inspires students to fully explore the language of music, and builds upon shared music of our own culture, as well as the music of the world.
In addition to my work, I keep busy with my nine-year-old son and very energetic five-year-old.
I am glad to be your music teacher and look forward to an exciting year of joyful music making!
